SA film Called “Losing Lerato” Wins 6 Awards In The US (Watch The Trailer)
Former Scandal actor Kagiso Modupe has won six awards on his Film Losing Lerato, at Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema in California this past weekend. The awards were funded by film and TV director, Stephen Savage, and are in their 11th year.
The film was nominated six times and won in all those categories. Kagiso took home an award of best actor, Samela Teylbooi got Best actress, Tshimollo Modupe walked away with Best Supporting Actress, Thato Molamu got the best supporting actor, Sanele Zulu was awarded Best Director and Givin Starley Walk away with the best Cinematography.
Losing Lerato came out in September 2019 and made R1.4 Million in its first five weeks. The entire country was excited to find out the film was nominated for six awards, but to win them all is just out of the world.
Thato Molamu was pleased with wins, and he told his fans on his Instagram that it was a big moment for the country. “We traveled halfway across the world with six nominations and I am happy to say Bakwena Productions landed six awards of nine. The international nomination for me was a great milestone and big up to the team for bagging them. What a time to be alive to get international recognition for Jake Daddy Chief, well-done team” said Thato.
The cast crew and the film will return from the US soon.
