Uzalo MaNgcobo Opens Up On Experiences As A Real Life Sangoma
Uzalo’s first Lady, Dawn Thandeka King has opened up on her acting career and religion. Dawn who plays Lindiwe Xulu or MaNgcobo on Uzalo said she found her love for acting during church plays and dramas at school. Dawn Thandeka King also opened up on her calling as a Sangoma.
She revealed that she got her first calling in while she was working in the corporate world. Dawn Thandeka King said she then went for her Ukuthwasa in Tembisa, Johannesburg. She has been open about her journey in the past and the car accident which served as a reagent into her spiritual calling as a Sangoma.
Said Dawn in her past interviews “I didn’t realize I had an ancestral calling until I had a car accident in 2008. I was hospitalized and I couldn’t walk for about a month. But my sixth sense told me that this had to do with an ancestral calling. I remember uttering the words, ‘If this is an ancestral calling then I accept it.”
She said though she answered her ancestral calling and is a sangoma, she is still a Christian as well. She attends the Lutheran Church with her children. Dawn Thandeka King said she uses her acting and singing as a way of healing others, in a way that is also her gift.
“Everyone in the entertainment industry understands that we have a calling and I have yet to meet someone who looks down on us. I think people understand that we are carrying messages through our art and they embrace that.”
